Control of the 15 ''municipi'' of the Italian capital was decided in the election. The number of ''municipi'' had been cut down from 19 in March 2013. As a result of the election, Ignazio Marino was elected with a large majority and his center-left coalition controls 29 seats against for the center-right coalition.
